This is my second foam project, and while it didn’t turn out the way I’d intended, I’m still super happy with it. It was meant to have a new look, but due to production errors I had to turn it into a bit of an older and used look. Still a great prop to own, though. It’s a fun way to fool friends and family!
This prop is made out of mostly EVA foam, although the center rod is made from a very cheap (and as such, very lightweight) hollow aluminum broomstick. The foam dumbbell comes complete with nonsense logo (the initials are my own).
Here’s a bunch of images so you know what you’re getting:
A couple of things to note here. For one, the logo’s aren’t completely painted on, and this is intentional. It’s part of the “worn” look. Unfortunately, the very-white text doesn’t sell that fact as well, and I’m sorry about that. Note that the metal-grey rod has rust spots on it, that’s also intentional for the same reason.
Fun fact, this prop rattles a little. There’s a piece of foam somewhere inside of it, and obviously, I can’t get it out without opening up the entire thing, which would ruin it. Think of it as a hidden surprise. 😉
