I noticed I could add more storage to the hobby room if I used that annoying sloped roof to my advantage.
Words are complicated, so here’s a picture:
What I basically did was attach a small piece of leftover prelaminated OSB to the wall so I could have an extra storage space near the ceiling. I didn’t like the look of it with large screws sticking out and so I took some of my leftover laminated hardboard that I cut into “cover” pieces. Which could have gone better, but it was good enough:
I did the same on the other side. Here’s a rough view that shows what I had to do to get around the screws sticking out:
You’ll notice that I couldn’t get this to go any lower. Which was a problem, because the result was far from level:
So what I did to fix this was add another piece of leftover OSB underneath the side with the sloped roof:
Which made it level, but is looks terrible. So to work around that, I got another leftover piece of hardboard to make it visually more pleasing:
I was pretty happy with the result, and it gave me two additional storage areas – and that space matters!
